Spotlight On: Alan Peterson
Deep inside, I have always known that music was my passion. It began by listening to my brothers Kingston Trio albums and, later, singing along with Dylan and the Beatles. But, as I got older, I began to listen to the "parent" in me and sought other vocations. I built and owned a restaurant/nightclub and, upon selling my business, I felt it necessary to return to college and then continue on to law school.
In the late 1980s, after graduation from law school, I practiced law for a number of years all the while keeping my music securely shut down. But, I found very little joy in the attorney world and began to ask myself what would truly make me happy. Then, I began attending the Living Enrichment Center here in Oregon where one of the many messages is to follow your dreams. I also picked up a number of books including The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron which has helped me immensely in finding ways to express my artistry.
With the support of my family I started writing music again, became a member of the Living Enrichment Center's music team and recorded my first CD "World In Love" (www.alanpeterson.net). I began traveling all over the Pacific Northwest performing my music in churches and coffee houses, making friendships with like minded musicians and people seeking fulfillment through the practice of living a life of love and realizing ones deepest desires.
Now I am writing and performing constantly, both as a solo artist and with other musicians. I have developed the "Circle Of Love" life celebrations and ceremonies with minister/motivator/speaker Shirley Bennett, which focuses on my original music, and I am continuing to record more of my music. As I traveled around promoting and performing my music, I realized that I could be helping other artists as well. So I developed Peterson Entertainment Enterprises (www.alanpeterson.net), a business dedicated to the promotion of all kinds of entertainment in an honest and professional manner.
